Version 1.0 Released March 18, 2004!
JPGDecodePNO is an HB++ Package that enables you to very quickly decode
and view JPG images in your HB++ application, on ARM powered PalmOS
devices. JPGDecodePNO currently decodes images on Palm devices with ARM
processors (all devices running PalmOS5 and higher) only, and does not
decode an image on devices with Motorola 68K processors (all PalmOS 4.x
and older devices). It employs a PACE Native Object (PNO, formerly
called Armlet) function for extremely fast decoding.
JPG images files stored as binary resources, or as JPG streamed files in
the Palm's main memory (RAM), and standard JPG files on VFS expansion
cards are supported. They are passed to the decoding function as a
standard stream object.
JPG images are decoded to the dimensions and density (standard or high
density) that you specify. Images are decoded and copied into a bitmap
object that you define in your application. Once the image has been
decoded into the bitmap, you can display and maniuplate that bitmap
using the standard HB++ methods.
A modified version of the JPEGViewer sample application is provided,
demonstrating how to use the JPGDecodePNO package in an image browser.
It also demonstrates how you can decode the image to an output bitmap
larger than the display, and scroll around the image using pen control.
